Local paper says Owens breaks four campaign promises in first hour

Politics

The Goueverneur Times, in upstate New York is reporting that newly elected Congressman, Bill Owens, broke four campaign promises within his first hour of taking office.  According to the Times, Owens had stated he oppossed the public option, did not support cuts to medicare, opposed taxing exisiting health care benefits and opposed raising taxes on the middle class.

But, soon after his swearing in, Owens issued a press release saying he favored the Pelosi/Obama health care bill.  The bill, said the paper, did allfour things Owens said he opposed.  One has to wonder if some of those NY 23rders want their votes back.  But, we will only have to wonder for one year.

Update: Owens voted in favor of Pelosi/Obamacare. Doug Hoffman likely just kicked off his 2010 campaign.
