House Call a Huge Success

10,000
gathered in Washington D.C. today for a "House Call" to let congress know that we don't want their stupid government takeover health care bill.  A contingent of about 100 made it from Kentucky and 20 of them paid a personal visit to Congressman Ben Chandler's office.

Chandler was apparently gracious and listened to their concerns, but left the group with the impression that he was still sitting on the fence about his vote on Health Care.  He did venture to day he had "grave concerns" about the bill as it is currently written.

For anyone who reads this bill and understands it to not know where they stand on it is disingenuous at best.  In my opinion, Chandler is holding out for what he can get, not worried about what he will lose.  In other words, I think Pelosi still has room left to twist his arm and get what she wants out of him.

Call congressman Ben Chandler and let him know you want him to take a stand with Kentuckians on this bill.

He's pretty much the professional politician that sticks his finger in the air to see which way the political wind is blowing, but kudos to all the voters in his (and our) district that took the time to voice their oppinion to him ( Chandler) in person.

And I think writing or calling his office to thank him would be a nice gesture too.

Kind of like a thank you card for a Christmas present that you don't like and can't wait to rewrap and give to someone else.

He did the right thing this time, but the cap and trade vote was a slap in the face to the coal industry and if passed will cost Kentucky and any other state that generates electricity with coal manufacturing jobs

I am very thankful Chandler voted against the health bill but I still don't trust him.  The count was predetermined prior to the vote and they didn't need his vote so there was no pressure on him by the so called leaders.  This direction of voting has to continue for the cap and trade and immigration bills which will be shoved down our throats as fast as can be next.  I hope he sees the light shining from Kentucky on these issues....

Probably a body double at the meeting with Chandler, but at least the visit to Washington had a better result than with him addressing voters to explain his vote on cap and trade.

It sure would have been nice for the voters and Rep. Chandler to have 72 hours to read what he is voting on in the healthcare bill this week , but it looks like that's not going to happen either.

Sure hope the opposition party is planning on running a cantidate that can actually give this guy a run for his money in 2010.
