Al Queada rhetorically called out Barak Obama in a tape released today. Al Zawahiri, the number two in Bin Laden's organization refered to Obama as a "House slave" (There was another more offensive interpretation that we will not detail).
But more important than the personal insult, was Zawahiri's threat to Obama to abandon the Bush policiy regarding Al-Queada and the Middle East. This puts Obama into a predicament, because he had vowed to bring 100% change from the Bush Administration policies. Al-Queada has pre-empted that policy by ordering Obama to do exactly what he promised to do.
Thus, if Obama lives up to his promise, Al-Queada can claim that he bowed to their pressure. If Obama doesn't change policies, he stands to be criticized for breaking a campaign pledge.
He is not even President, and Obama is getting schooled by our enemies. The Obama team refused to comment on the tape. It is possible that they are focusing on the insult, and are clueless to the implications of Al-Queada threat. It's no wonder that Obama wants to keep bush's national security team somewhat intact. He is getting far more than what he bargained for.
